Please Don’t Think I’m Crazy

So I bet you’re all dying to know what I ended up doing last night.

Well, let’s just say this is what time I woke up this morning:

Needless to say, I was quite disoriented, especially since I hadn’t slept past 8 in months. I wasn’t feeling in tip-top shape so I chugged a bunch of water and nibbled on one of my favorite Clif bars.

Then, being in my disoriented, slightly nonsensical state, I decided to go for a run. It was not fun. And apparently when I’m in a miserable situation such as my run this morning my creative juices start flowing and I like to rhyme. Thus I leave you with a little diddy I made up as a way to distract myself through my torturous morning:

I woke up this morning to 45* and sun

And thought that it was the perfect day for a run

Given how I felt, why I thought that I can’t really tell

But let me just say, it was the run from hell.

The sidewalks were still partially covered in ice

And where it had melted the puddles were not at all nice

I also hadn’t run outside since the new year

A fact my legs and lungs let me know loud and clear

Now I usually think I’m a lady with class

But when cars speed by and splash me with water, it’s a pain in the ass.

I may have then shouted a not so nice word

And then gotten dirty looks from moms whose little children had heard.

The wind was so strong it felt like I was on a treadmill

I tried to run forward but was really at a standstill

Then my ipod died so all I could hear was my labored breath

And the effects from last night made me really feel like death.

After 40 long minutes I eventually made it back

I’m tired, my legs are killing, my head is pounding, and I’m all out of whack

So in conclusion, drinking ‘vodka surprise’ punch was most definitely a mistake

And in the future sticking to red wine is the path that I’ll take.

And this serves as yet another example of why I am an International Relations and Economics double-major and stay far away from poetry and creative writing classes.

Anyway, I’m currently camped out in my new residence: The library. I packed a little pb sandwich and carrots to get me through the afternoon.

I’ll be back later tonight.

Impressive that you still made it out for a run after a night out! I have definitely moved into the library for what will most likely be the remainder of the semester…

I’m so glad you went out!!! But I am sorry about the run, haha I like your diddy, and it’s true, if I want to function properly the day after, I have to stick with wine (doesn’t mean I do). 😉

    Good luck in the library!

OMG I love your poem! I’m not trying to sound like a broken record, but I used to come up with rhymes like that all the time. One time I drew a tree randomly and ended up coming up with a super long poem that related trees to humans. I’m a weirdo!
