A New Era

Finally! I have been waiting for this day for 8 years! I am so proud to be an American right now! I should have planned some patriotic red-white-and blue eats for the occasion but unfortunately my food supply is waaaayyyy too limited to get creative like that—here’s what I had instead.

Breakfast

First let me just saw how much I miss my waffle towers. Just throwing that out there. Anyway, today was a lovely combo of fage, apple, and kashi go lean. I’m sort of getting burnt out with the same combinations every day, I think I’ll switch it up with a new cereal next time I go to the store. What is your favorite cereal? I’m looking for something high in protein and fiber to keep me full and energized all morning.

After breakfast I piddled around on my computer (my internet is still super sketchy so I need to take advantage of it when I get a signal) and then I hit the gym. Elliptical + Shape magazine made for an enjoyable gym-sesh.

Lunch

I have class allll day Tues/Thursday so I packed up some food to get me through. First, a turkey and laughing cow sandwich, dried edamame and almonds. I absolutely love adding laughing cow to my sandwiches, it takes plain old turkey to a whole new level. Then during my second break I munched on a chocolate coconut larabar. This pb salmonella scare better go away soon because I am going through some serious pb cookie larabar withdrawal!

Snack

I got home from class and caught up on some inauguration coverage while snacking on a ‘frozen yogurt’. This is like my favorite treat! Just freeze, thaw a little bit, and you have a very good ice-cream imposter.

Dinner

An old classic: sweet potato/cottage cheese with quorn cutlet/annie’s smokey maple bbq sauce. I love this dinner!

Dessert

I’m currently working my way through my accounting homework and this little packet of Late July Vanilla Bean cookies—I love them, they’re like healthy oreos! I’m so glad that I can buy these in mini packs because they are so good that a big box would be too dangerous to keep around!

And here is a fun fact I learned in class today: Theodore Roosevelt, being the nature-lover that he was, used to love skinny dipping in the Potomac and would encourage his visiting European diplomats and leaders to join him! Life without the constant paparazzi must have been nice—could you imagine the scandal that would occur if President Obama tried something like that!

I want to try Late July products! -lol- So jealous!
And my favorite cereal is kashi go lean, nature’s path flax plus flakes, fibre 1 cereal, kashi honey almond flax, etc, etc. 😀

I have that prob with cereal, none of them keep me full! Golean is good, i like barbara’s shredded spoonfuls, and smart start, and total!

As far as cereals go, I think that kashi most definitely has that market…have you tried the kashi heart 2 heart? Very similar nutritionals to GoLean, but better tasting in my opinion 🙂

Yummy I love your cottage cheese/sweet potato/cutlet dinner as well! I’m gunna look for those late july cookies next time I’m at Kroger too!

haha oh wow, no paparazzi would be a very different world indeed..

Love the dinner! Sweet potatoes are the best 😀

PB Puffins, yes, I concur. And I would suggest looking at TJ’s line of cereals: they are usually high in fiber and protein and taste great!

I also have class all throughout T/Th…I might steal some of your food ideas =]

What an awesome fact! I love weird history like that.

Hey Sarah! Just caught up on your posts from yesterday and wanted to say that we are sooo lucky to have you as a blogger! I definitely think a reunion needs to happen and Europe would be the perfect place. But if not, I would definitely up for a trip to Boston…or YOU could come to Chicago! Just throwin’ it out there 😉

I think Kashi is the best protein-packed cereal I’ve found! Sorry I can’t be of more help there! But it is delicious so I guess it’s not such a bad thing!

I don’t think I’ve ever added Laughing Cow to a sandwich before. I’ll definitely have to try that out! I also need to try your “frozen yogurt” because that sounds too good to be true.

LOL on the Teddy Roosevelt fact!

Lol…I’d never heard that about TR, but it sure sounds like him!

I gotta say, my fave cereal is still GoLean, but I also really like PB Bumpers and Publix Oatmeal Flakes.

I really gotta try that sweet potato-CC combo one of these days–thanks for the reminder.

Those Late July cookies sound amazing!

Go Lean is the most filling for me, but Grape Nuts are good too!

Just tried the sweet tater/CC thing tonight and LOVED it.

Thanks for the info on the frozen yogurt…I’m gonna try it, you’ll see!

Amen to what Jenn said on the bloggie reunion. I was thinking we should have a big feast…no cameras aloud…it can be like fight club!!!

    Have a great Wednesday girl!

    go OBAMA!

still need to try those darn quorn cutlets! they were on sale at WF the other week too! I didn’t get any though 😦

    SOOOOOOOON.

Puffns are good, but I don’t know how much protein them have in them, ya know? But if you’re adding it to the proteinerific fage then manye it won’t matter. I also really like quaker oatmeal squares.

  15. 15 Sarah Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 10:17 am

i really don’t think any cereal can beat the go lean crunch! but i still haven’t tried pb puffins …

  16. 16 ksgoodeats Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 11:27 am

Favorite cereal: KASHI CRUNCH!!! I lovah the crunchah!

Fabulous dinner doll! Oh – I need to try the frozen yogurt thing for sure 🙂

I’m a big history nerd (that was my major within my Elem. Ed degree) so I LOVE those kind of facts!

Every single one of your eats today looked delish! Especially those Late July cookies… where do you get them?

I don’t know if I could pick a favorite cereal… I like mixing Fiber One with just about anything, because it tastes good, and is low enough in calories that you can add it to a whole bowl of something else!

    Oh Teddy R…

Haha I thought I was the only one who says “piddle around.” We are so cool!
