Bound to Happen

It was so warm out today that I couldn’t bear to spend it cooped up in the house so I decided to hit up Starbucks for a SF vanilla iced coffee and some studying. I sat out on the patio at Starbucks for a while but then got a little too warm and realized I wasn’t getting much done, so I headed back home.

Where I had this to get myself focused again:

I’ve been doing so well with all my recipes these past few months that a failure was bound to happen eventually. I guess tonight was that night. My Chicken Provencal started off well enough, all the veggies were chopped with no sliced fingers, and all the ingredients were ready to hit the pot. I browned the chicken and started adding the veggies when I smelled something burning. I couldn’t figure it out, but when I stirred stuff around I noticed some sticking. I investigated and found the bottom of the pot looking like this:

I’ve never cooked with this particular pot before and I guess I must not have used enough oil, or did something else really wrong because it was horrible. The kitchen smelled terrible and the food was basically unsalvageable. I was so upset because this meal really looked like it was going to be good! Oh well, I’ll try it again some other time.

Luckily there were still some leftovers in the fridge, so I heated up some Pad Thai. It really was not nearly as good the second time around. The noodles sort of stuck together and got hard which made it difficult to eat. Also I was just really frustrated from my kitchen failure and inhaled this dinner without really taking time to taste it. Now I’m full but not at all satisfied. A think a yummy dessert is definitely a necessity tonight.

Aw, don’t worry – I’ve had many a kitchen fiasco that were much worse! On the plus side, even though the pad thai may not have tasted as good…it still looks amazing!!

And yes, a yummy dessert is definitely a necessity πŸ™‚
