White-out Wipe-out

I woke up this morning to more snow! It has been crazy snow/wind/ice all day today and I think we got another 6 inches or so.

Now let’s play a game. It’s called “Guess how many times Sarah wiped out walking around campus today?”

…..3! I’m actually pretty pleased with that number, it is crazy slippery out there and I’m surprised I didn’t fall even more than that–I’m a total klutz. Actually everyone was dropping like flies, it was pretty hilarious. Everywhere you looked people were just slipping and falling, it was like one giant ice skating rink!

I’m just glad that I don’t have to drive anywhere. I have bad luck with ice. My driveway is on a hill with a ditch behind it and once I was going down and it was really  icy and I lost control of the car and drove right into the ditch. I drive an SUV and had to call my sister (who was in the house) to come help me and I had to climb out the trunk! Luckily I wasn’t hurt and the car was fine but it was really scary. Once I stopped shaking though it was actually pretty funny and to this day my family always jokes about how I drove into the ditch. It actually doesn’t sound that funny in writing but believe me, it was and we laugh about it probably once a week at least (and it’s been 2 years!)

Anyway…here’s some food!

Breakfast

Overnight oats to match the snow outside!

Lunch

Ezekial with maple almond butter (heaven!) and cottage cheese with kiwi. I think it’s pretty safe to say that this was the perfect lunch.

Then I had yoga and it felt marvelous. That word always reminds me of my Grandma, it’s one of her ‘signature’ words. Are there any words that remind you of someone? Anyway, it had been a whole week since my last yoga practice so it was amazing to streachhhhh and sweat and breath. Mmmm.

Snack

I tried the Pistachio Larabar for the first time today and really liked it! It definitely wasn’t as sweet as some of the other ones but v. good nonetheless. I always forget how much I love pistachios. My mom loves them and used to buy them a lot (what happened, Mom, they’re never around the house anymore!) and it was always so fun breaking the shells to eat them but I got so frustrated with the ones that were sealed shut! Know what I’m talking about? I feel like pistachios are sort of the loser nut that nobody ever has around. What’s the deal with that? They’re so good! Let’s change it!

Dinner

After sitting in the hall and talking to my friends for hours doing lots of homework, it was time for dinner: a breakfast sandwich! Turkey, cheese, eggbeaters, and spinach on a sandwich thin (with ketchup OBVI), carrots, and an apple. Delish.

Dessert

Then was more sorority stuff. I told you guys it’s life-consuming this week! I can’t wait for recruitment to be over! Our event was on the later side tonight and to prevent myself from bingeing on cookies and m&ms I had some ak-maks to hold me over through the event.

Obviously I couldn’t help myself and had to have some m&ms. Stealthy camera phone style!

mail

Now I’m having popcorn and as soon as I’m done posting I gotta hit the books. I actually am looking forward to this weekend because I have crazy work to catch up on!

Wow, I’ve been really chatty today! I guess I’m in a good mood! I love when that happens. I hope I managed to entertain you a bit.

Have a great night everyone!

Aw! You are always entertaining Sarah 🙂 Glad you managed to keep the icy wipe-outs to a minimum–me and ice do NOT mix, I’m lucky it never snows here!

Ohh recruitment, I’m praying that my long Saturday at the house will not be TOO painful…

That ice can be pretty treachorous–especially in heels. I hope it all melts soon!

BTW, I *love* your adorable plates. Are they ceramic or plastic? Where did you get them?

That sandwich looks goooood! I might copy you with some fake turkey soon…

Be careful on the ice! They are SO INFURIATINGLY BAD about plowing and SCRAPING. The snow and ice doesn’t just GO AWAY! Sorry for the rage, but it makes me so angry (as if you couldn’t tell)!

I’m entertained…I hope you don’t mind that I was cracking up at you falling all over campus. I always trip and try to play it off, but as my husband says, my “cool act” is shot as soon as that happens.

I love my pistachios!!! Favorite nut in a heartbeat. Why don’t they make pistachio butter???

Glad you are chatty and HAPPY!!!

Sarah, I started laughing when I read your post about driving into the ditch. It is funny that the two things we as a family laugh about most are you driving into the ditch and you getting your shirt stuck on your head!! We do love you!!! I think I stopped buying pistachios when I starting eating more almonds. I do miss them and will need to add them to the rotation. Stay warm today (and try not to fall). GO STEELERS!!

aww sorry you wiped out 3 times.. for me it would have been much, much more. i would have just slid around campus on my stomach to keep from repeatedly falling on my booty
i just recently started eating ezekiel products and LOVE them
hope you have a wonderful day!

Sarah!! Love the kiwis…oh man, delicious 🙂 Also, reading back a few posts, I see you had the WF Jumble Cookie…they are AMAZING!!! Glad you enjoyed it.

You asked a question about my workout routine (weights). I like to alternate between lower and upper body every other day to give each a break/rest. I do free weights and the machines to give a little variety. I made up my lifting routine by myself–using different moves I’ve seen on TV, the web, and fitness workouts (and other people do at the gym!). If you have specific questions about certain moves or muscles, I’d be happy to help with what I know about my routine. Love ya!
